Intro to Swimming

Beginner 1

Beginner 2

Intermediate

Rapid Proof

Now accomplished swimmers, participants in the Advances level should be moving through the water correctly and proficiently in freestyle and backstroke, with a good breastroke kick and a functional butterfly. The addidtion of flip turns is a major jump in the development of an aquatic athlete, as now swimmers are performing multiple laps without rest (if possible). Swimmers may complete this level and try out for the swim team once completed.

At the first of the shallow/deep water swimming classes, Intermediates should gain a working understanding of the dolphin kick and breastroke. Precision of form becomes more important with the freestyle and backstroke, as bilateral breathing and correct streamline and correct streamline positions are stressed.

Students should begin to appear as functional swimmers as they progress through the Beginner 2 level, utilizing correct body position to achieve propulsion from their arm and leg movements. An introduction to deep water is established, as students learn to tread water, and the breastroke kick is taught.

Beginner 1 begins with getting comfortable in a swim lesson settingm including breath control, buoyancy and proper head immersion. A significant goal of Beginner 1 is to establish the correct head position (and as a result correct body position), which will pay off for years to come.

This class is a true introduction to swimming for any child that is anxious or brand new to the water. Skills introduced include submerisions, bubbles, streamlines, and proper arm movement while helping building confidence. The goal of this class is to increasr confidence in a fin, non-threatening maner to prepare for Beginner 1.
